Pineville, KY - 1.4 square miles of land between Pine Mountain and the Cumberland River.
Population ~2100, plus the four of us.
Pineville's claim to fame: the Mountain Laurel Festival
The oldest continuous event of its kind in the United States (now in its 81st year).
Another quirky thing about Pineville: Chained Rock
|
Our home can be seen while standing atop chained rock. Whew! We'd be right in the path of that boulder if it fell off! Thank goodness that chain's there. |

Kentucky's first state park, Pine Mountain State Park, is the sight of the Chained Rock.
The trail to Chained Rock is about 1/2 mile each way and is a little rough. We often go up to the overlook to watch the sunset over our sleepy little town. |
